Illinois Latino Academy 2009-10 Class

The Chicago/Illinois Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy works to support the growth of Latino leaders and contribute to the sustainability of Latino nonprofits.  The Academy seeks to increase participants knowledge and ability to effect systemic change as stewards of diverse low-income Latino communities in Chicago and throughout Illinois.

TCLI partnered with the Chicago-based Latino Policy Forum to plan and implement this program. LPF promotes a public policy agenda to build the leadership of Latinos to ensure the well-being of its community and society as a whole. LPF's work aligns with TCLI's mission.  LPF is the only organization of its kind in the Chicago region with a primary focus dedicated to facilitating the inclusion of Latinos at all levels in public policy and policy decision-making processes.

TCLI and LPF created a 14-member Local Latino Advisory Committee  that guides curriculum development and selects participants from applications submitted to the program.

The Chicago/Illinois Latino Nonprofit Leadership Academy has 33 participants representing Latino nonprofit directors, emerging leaders and board members of 11 Latino organizations gathered to engage in a series of leadership workshops, on-site technical assistance, mentoring and coaching opportunities geared toward their individual organizations.
